I just recently discoved there are huge reward for unsolved math problems(some worth mill).. I am a bit curious...

Is there some kind of reward(unsolved problem or something like this) about making EV+ bet with coin toss?
Asumming there is no rake(or house edge) and we do not have infinitive amount of money(at this game)? If not, is there some similar unsolved problem? For example: Turning serious of EV0 bets, into EV+ bet?

I am just curious...:D..Thank you for answers..

  • The only way to win on a coin-toss is to start by betting $1$ and double the stake every time you lose, finally winning just $1$ when you win. You might win a few rounds but in the long term this strategy will break your bank. I wasted a $pi$th of my life looking at run lengths etc. of coin tosses. If there is a prize, is it just grandstanding?

  • The main thing that causes this strategy to fail is house limits on a bet. That is, a typical limit of $1000 will break your bank with a run of 11 losses (p = .0005)

  • Hi, Weather Vane and Phil H. I am a bit new here, so I do not know what all the buttons do, so I write reply here. Thank you for answers. I am still curious what is reward for making EV+ bet at coin toss(if there is any)? Offcourse assuming we have upper limit and offcourse with odds 2.
